We would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to the new JGE! Roger and Nir deserve special thanks for making this issue possible. Their careful editing and attention to detail have resulted in a suite of papers that can stand as exemplars as we move into a new era for geoscience education. Please keep your eyes peeled for changes to formatting guidelines as we work to standardize tables, figures, and article layout; these changes will help us produce the most professional JGE possible. We are excited to work with you now and in the future!

What I'm seeing in the new JGE editorial standards and formats are some very big, very positive steps that represent increasing rigor and quality in geoscience education research, and probably greater awareness, use, and citation of the geoscience education research that gets published in this journal. This should help spur more, and better, geoscience education research in general, which, if all goes according to plan, should improve geoscience education, period.
